SUMMARY
Supervises one or more TECO-Westinghouse manufacturing department(s). Responsibilities include management of assigned areas of plant, scheduling and directing the daily activities of manufacturing personnel as needed to accomplish short and long term manufacturing objectives, communicating product status, and driving improvements in cost, quality, cycle time and productivity.
Manages all resources allocated to assigned manufacturing area(s). Coordinates closely with other department supervisors, engineering, purchasing, planning, and other support functions as required to ensure quality, cost and schedule objectives are met.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and schedule work load; control expenditures; review performance of subordinates; assign work; select and train subordinates; recommend wage or salary adjustments; recommend budgets; maintain morale of subordinates; report results and unusual situations to immediate supervisor.

CRITICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Above average interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Must be able to read and interpret assembly drawings, specifications, etc. The ability to effectively influence, direct and lead people is required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Four to ten years of related manufacturing experience and/or training is required.
Minimum of five years of experience manufacturing large electric motors, generators or similar electromechanical equipment is preferred.
Lean Manufacturing /Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement experience is stongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret both general and technical documents. Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from executives, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and effectively apply them to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form, and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables, as needed to solve manufacturing issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Promote safe work habits and ensure employee compliance with all safety policies.
- Promote and maintain quality workmanship and product.
- Manage overtime utilization and re-allocate or share resources with other departments as needed to maintain overall factory balance between workload and labor capacity, in order to minimize cost while maintaining schedule.
- Resolve quality, productivity and methods issues. Recommend process changes when needed or when beneficial to product quality, production efficiency, or safety.
- Implement and coordinate productivity improvement projects.
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop in assigned areas.
- Maintain a disciplined work force.
- Assure on time delivery of product.
- Recommend and plan weekly overtime activities based on customer requirements and budget constraints.
- Support field service activities on and off site, when required.
- Train subordinates. Ensure team members receive training and that performance meets established manufacturing and quality standards.
- Communicate status of customer orders.
- Manage expense budgets of assigned area(s).
- With the assistance of others, investigate manufacturing errors or in-process failures, determine root cause / corrective action, and develop an effective recovery plan.
- Regular attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
- Compliance with applicable Company policies, which include, but are not limited to, maintaining a drug free workplace, safety procedures, ISO 9001 and 14000 standards, is required.
