TECO-Westinghouse is looking for 2 highly motivated Entry Level Maintenance Technicians who are eager to develop their skills, have a willingness to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and can work independently as well as part of a team.

This position offers paid classroom training at TSTC, on the job training, and mentorship from one of our experienced Maintenance Technicians.   Candidates completing this program will receive a Certificate of Registration from the Department of Labor (DOL).

Our award-winning motors and generators are utilized in petroleum, chemical, steel, paper, mining, and other industries throughout the world.

SUMMARY:
Maintains, repairs, calibrates, alter and relocate/install all types of complex HVAC, communications, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems and equipment required to facilitate all life support systems for the building and site.  Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The following are the usual major job duties but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised of the proper rate of pay for the assignment.

Analyze faulty equipment/systems, apply knowledge of functional apparatus to diagnose cause of malfunction, recommend solution and make repairs and return equipment to service.

Performs diagnostic testing, listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment, and visually inspects machinery/equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operational variations with supervisors, team leaders or other maintenance technicians to diagnose problem and repair machinery/equipment.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Under supervision installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring, and electrical/electronic components of machinery and equipment.  Replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.

Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, transducers, and positions sensing devices.

Assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Under supervision installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as variable frequency drives and programmable controllers.

Operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair machine or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.

Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical machinery and systems troubleshooting and repair. Must possess above average ability to analyze, troubleshoot and perform repairs.

Building construction and/or renovation knowledge and background.

Preventive and predictive maintenance of building and manufacturing systems and equipment is required. Ability to identify, lead and perform proactive maintenance tasks.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Identify suppliers, order and generate required paperwork to procure proper replacement parts/components.

Implement/establish preventative maintenance programs for machines, equipment, building and site.

Maintain all required records and reports in an orderly manner.

Respond to building and factory emergencies as required.

Member of the Emergency Response Team.

Maintain relationships with other departments and external individuals and groups.

Uses the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, preventative maintenance, and equipment history and spare parts.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

SCOPE, PURPOSE, & FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS
Discusses machine operational variations with other maintenance technicians to diagnose problem or repair machine.  

Discusses machine operations with machine operators daily.  Provide maintenance for the following: building, grounds, electrical distribution system, emergency back-up system, fire alarm system, fire loop/sprinkler system, external/internal lighting system, air distribution system, HVAC/Chiller distribution system, site security system and all communication networks as required.

High School Diploma or GED

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, pressurized hydraulic and air/gas systems, energized electrical systems and controls and systems or components under high tensile and/or compressive stresses.  The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Safe practices and programs are in place to allow work to be performed safely.
